N95 protection trusted
by healthcare professionals.
The 3M Aura 1870+ is a surgical N95 respirator built for healthcare environments where both airborne particle filtration and fluid resistance are required simultaneously.
- NIOSH-approved N95 — filters at least 95% of airborne non-oil-based particles
- ASTM F2100 Level 3 fluid resistance — withstands high-velocity blood and body fluid splash
- FDA 510(k) cleared — approved for use as a surgical mask in clinical settings
- 3-panel Aura duckbill design — contoured shape fits a wide range of face sizes; more interior volume for comfortable breathing and speaking
- Latex-free — safe for wearers with latex sensitivities
All-day comfort.
Zero compromise on protection.
Designed for healthcare workers who wear respiratory protection throughout extended shifts, the 1870+ reduces fatigue without sacrificing filtration performance.
- Soft nose foam — cushions the bridge of the nose during extended wear
- Adjustable aluminum nose clip — molds to individual facial contours for a consistent seal
- Dual elastic head straps — upper and lower bands distribute tension evenly; no ear loops to cause pressure points
- Sculpted top panel — deflects exhaled air downward to reduce eyewear fogging
- Triangular fold-flat design — collapses flat for compact storage and convenient pocket portability
- Individually packaged — each respirator is sealed in its own packet to maintain cleanliness before use
NIOSH N95 Approved
Meets CDC and OSHA standards for N95 respiratory protection. Filters at least 95% of airborne non-oil-based particles including biological aerosols.
ASTM Level 3 Rated
Highest fluid resistance rating under ASTM F2100. Designed to withstand high-pressure splash and spatter of blood or infectious materials in surgical environments.
FDA 510(k) Cleared
Cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as a surgical mask. The 1870+ meets both NIOSH N95 and surgical mask requirements in a single respirator.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How is the 1870+ different from a KN95?
- The 3M 1870+ is a NIOSH-approved N95, tested and certified to U.S. standards by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. KN95 is a Chinese regulatory standard (GB2626). N95 certification requires third-party NIOSH testing; KN95 certification does not involve the same independent U.S. oversight. The 1870+ is also FDA 510(k) cleared as a surgical mask — KN95 respirators are not cleared for surgical use in the U.S.
- Is the 1870+ approved for use in operating rooms and surgical suites?
- Yes. FDA 510(k) clearance as a surgical mask means the 1870+ can be worn in environments where a surgical mask is required, including ORs. It provides both particulate filtration (N95) and fluid resistance (ASTM F2100 Level 3), making it suitable for procedures with aerosolization risk or blood and body fluid exposure.
- How do I perform a fit check before use?
- Unfold the respirator and position it under your chin. Pull the straps over your head — upper strap at the crown, lower strap at the back of the neck. Mold the nose clip to the bridge of your nose using both hands. Perform a positive-pressure check: cup hands over the mask and exhale sharply — air should not escape at the edges. For a negative-pressure check: inhale deeply — the mask should pull inward slightly. If you detect leakage, readjust the nose clip and reposition.
- What are the storage requirements?
- Store in a clean, dry location away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, humidity, and contaminants. Individual packaging protects each respirator until it is opened. The shelf life is 5 years from the manufacture date when stored under recommended conditions. Do not use a respirator that has been stored outside its sealed packaging for an extended period.
