Surgical N95 Respirator 1870+
The 3M Aura 1870+ is a NIOSH-approved surgical N95 respirator built for healthcare settings that demand both airborne particle filtration and fluid resistance in a single flat-fold mask.
Surgical N95 filtration and fluid resistance in one respirator
The 1870+ meets NIOSH N95 requirements and is FDA 510(k) cleared as a surgical mask, so a single respirator covers both airborne particles and splash exposure during patient care.
- NIOSH-approved N95 filters at least 95% of airborne non-oil-based particles, including biological aerosols. Approval number TC-84A-5726.
- Fluid resistant to the 3M-documented ASTM F1862 test method, helping guard against high-velocity blood and body-fluid splash.
- FDA 510(k) cleared surgical mask, suitable for procedures where a surgical mask is required.
- Not made with natural rubber latex, so it is safe for wearers with latex sensitivities.
Built for all-day wear across long healthcare shifts
The 3-panel Aura shape opens into a contoured chamber with more interior volume, giving your nose and mouth room to breathe and speak through extended wear.
- Soft inner nose foam cushions the bridge of the nose during long shifts.
- Adjustable nose clip molds to individual facial contours for a consistent seal.
- Dual braided headbands distribute tension evenly with no ear loops to cause pressure points.
- Sculpted top panel helps direct exhaled air downward to reduce eyewear fogging.
- Individually wrapped and flat-folding, so each respirator stays clean and packs flat for storage.
Order a box of 20 or a full case
The 1870+ comes in one respirator, individually wrapped. Pick the quantity that matches your setting, the respirator inside every pack is the same.
Pack of 20
One box of 20 individually wrapped respirators, sized for a person, a small team, or a single unit.
Case of 240
Twelve of the 20-count boxes, the same respirator packaged for facilities and higher-volume use.
Filtration, fit and certifications are identical in both options. A case of 240 is simply twelve of the 20-count boxes. Availability of each option can vary.
How to put on and fit-check the 1870+
Position
Cup the respirator under your chin and pull the upper band over the crown of your head, the lower band at the back of your neck.
Mold The Clip
Using both hands, press the nose clip along the bridge of your nose so it follows the shape of your face.
Seal Check
Cover the respirator and exhale sharply. If air escapes at the edges, readjust the clip and straps, then re-check.
3M Aura 1870+ questions, answered
How is the 1870+ different from a KN95 mask?
The 3M 1870+ is a NIOSH-approved N95, tested and certified to U.S. standards by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. KN95 is a Chinese standard (GB2626) and does not involve the same independent U.S. oversight.
The 1870+ is also FDA 510(k) cleared as a surgical mask, while KN95 respirators are not cleared for surgical use in the U.S.
Can the 1870+ be worn in operating rooms and surgical suites?
Yes. Its FDA 510(k) clearance as a surgical mask means it can be worn where a surgical mask is required, including operating rooms. It provides both particulate filtration and fluid resistance, which suits procedures with aerosolization risk or blood and body-fluid exposure.
How do I perform a fit check before each use?
Position the respirator and mold the nose clip with both hands. For a positive-pressure check, cup your hands over the mask and exhale sharply. Air should not escape at the edges. For a negative-pressure check, inhale deeply. The mask should pull inward slightly. If you feel leakage, readjust and reposition.
How should I store the respirators, and what is the shelf life?
Store in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, humidity, and contaminants. The individual packaging protects each respirator until it is opened. Shelf life is 5 years from the manufacture date when stored under recommended conditions.
Does this come as a box of 20 or a larger case?
Both. This listing offers the 1870+ as a box of 20 individually wrapped respirators or as a case of 240, which is twelve of those 20-count boxes. The respirator, its filtration and its certifications are the same in either quantity, so choose the option that fits how many you go through.
Are 3M Aura 1870+ respirators FSA or HSA eligible?
N95 respirators are generally an eligible expense under most Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Savings Accounts as personal protective equipment for health purposes. Eligibility is set by your plan administrator, so check with your benefits provider about your specific coverage.
