The disinfecting cap system that guards both sides of the IV line
DualCap is a uniquely designed disinfecting cap system for the male luer connector at the end of IV tubing and for needle-free valves - two engineered caps that help prevent intraluminal contamination and device cross-contamination, especially over extended catheter dwell times. Ordered by the each, by the box of 350 or by the case of 4,200.
One system, two points of protection
Contamination risk lives at both ends of an IV connection. The DualCap System pairs two purpose-built disinfecting caps so neither side is left exposed between accesses.
Male luer connectors
One cap twists onto the male luer at the end of IV tubing, bathing it in disinfectant and shielding it from touch and airborne contamination while the line is disconnected.
Needle-free valves
The second cap seats over needle-free valves, providing built-in disinfection and a physical barrier through a secure connection until the next access.
Why infusion teams reach for DualCap
- Medical-grade IPA sponges. Both caps contain sponges saturated with 70% isopropyl alcohol for built-in disinfection.
- Secure, tapered twist-on design. Easy to grasp, hold and twist for a confident fit - even with gloves on.
- Color-coded identification. Light blue and dark blue caps make it obvious which cap belongs where, supporting proper usage at a glance.
- Cross-contamination defense. Helps prevent contamination passing between IV devices, a key concern for catheters with extended dwell times.
- Three units to order. The same system by the each, by the box of 350 or by the case of 4,200 - see the unit table below.
One system, three order sizes
The Unit option on this product changes the quantity, nothing else. The caps are the same DualCap caps whichever one you pick, so choose the depth that matches how you stock.
| Unit | Count | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Each | 1 | A single unit, for adding to an existing kit or trying the system before committing to a box. |
| Box of 350 | 350 | A working supply for a ward, an infusion suite or an ongoing home infusion routine. |
| Case of 4200 | 4,200 | Facility-level stocking. The same count as twelve boxes of 350. |
Every unit holds the same caps - only the quantity changes, so protocol, color coding and disinfection are identical across all three. Availability of individual units can vary.
Designed by infusion nurses, for nurses - so proper disinfection protocol is the easy path, not the extra step.Merit Medical DualCap System
Clinical applications for the DualCap system
DualCap is ideal for any healthcare setting where IV therapy is administered - infusion centers, hospitals, long-term care and home infusion. By keeping disinfection consistent between uses on both male luers and needle-free valves, the system supports patient safety and the infection control standards your protocols are built on.
